Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has defended the Prime Minister’s comments on Venezuela during last week’s Caricom Heads of Government meeting in St Kitts.
During a media briefing on Sunday, Mr Augustine registered his support of Mrs Persad-Bissessar’s remarks but also stressed Tobago’s neutrality in international affairs.
“Maduro is no more, Maduro is gone and despite what the people felt about the Prime Minsiter’s international relations policies, the truth is, she was right about Maduro,” he said.
Mr Augustine also commented on the Prime Minister’s comments on the Brent Thomas issue, saying it was the substance of the court’s findings that is what truly matters.
“The courts, our courts, a Judge in court, that used the term abduction, that said that (Thomas) was illegally used,” he said.
“Using a RSS (Regional Security System) plane, which is a CARICOM asset, then I think that CARICOM, in fact, has something to answer,” Mr Augustine added.
