CARICOM Governments are joining efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Cuba, following a series of extensive blackouts in the country.
The initiative, announced by CARICOM Chairman Dr. Terrance Drew, is being coordinated by the CARICOM Secretariat in Guyana.
Mexico is supporting the effort by supplying essential items such as powdered milk, medical supplies, and solar equipment, in addition to covering shipping costs to Cuba.
The Secretariat has not provided a specific arrival date for the shipment, which comes from a decision made at last month’s CARICOM summit.
