CARICOM’s Reparations Committee will begin meetings in Britain today, pushing for action on the lasting impacts of slavery and colonialism.
The group, led by Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, Chairman of the Commission, will meet UK officials through November 20 to promote its reparations plan.
Reuters reported this includes a call for a formal apology, education programmes, debt relief and financial compensation.
The visit is being organised with the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, which will host the delegation’s meetings and events.
