The Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago is urging young people to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly.

The call came as BATT partnered for the seventh consecutive year with FLOW Trinidad and Tobago and Elevate to observe Safer Internet Day at Fyzabad Secondary School.

Speaking to senior students, Republic Bank’s Manager of Corporate Security, Sherwin Forte, warned that the online world is filled with faceless bad actors powered by Artificial Intelligence.

His advice — “Never trust. Always verify.”

IT Security Operations Officer Yolande Spencer encouraged the use of strong passphrases to protect accounts, while BATT’s Communications Manager Dixie-Ann Dickson reminded students that every online action leaves a lasting digital footprint.

FLOW’s Vice President Simone Martin-Sulgan also urged students to pair connectivity with good judgment and integrity as they shape their digital futures.
