Antigua has denied reports of unauthorized US military activity on the island.
In a statement, the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force confirmed that Canadian military personnel are present, but only to assist in planning for next year’s Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
The force stressed that no American soldiers have been authorized to conduct operations in St. John’s or elsewhere, and urged the public to rely on official updates for accurate information.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne previously said the country had no interest in hosting any form of military assets. Antigua and Barbuda has absolutely no interest in hosting any form of military assets here in the country,
