Government officials say they are closely monitoring increased volcanic activity affecting parts of the Piparo area, but stress that no evacuation has been ordered at this time.
Speaking on the situation, Minister Khadijah Ameen confirmed that high levels of activity have been observed at the Piparo mud volcano.
She said police officers, including members of the TTPS and Municipal Police, are on the ground along areas such as Hussein Trace and Thomas Ross Road.
However, Ms Ameen says no evacuation has been ordered at this time.
Police are also warning residents and tourists to stay away from affected routes and keeping access clear if evacuation becomes necessary.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Michael Pierre said that with increased activity in the area the public should not engage in sightseeing at this time
Emergency shelters have not been activated, but contingency plans are in place should conditions worsen.
Officials say assessments will continue and the public will be kept updated.
