The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued an advisory warning residents of unsettled weather conditions expected across the twin-island state.
According to the Met Office, occasional heavy showers and periods of rain are forecast, with peak intensity likely during the afternoon. There is also a medium, 60 percent, chance of isolated thunderstorms throughout the day.
Authorities caution that gusty winds in excess of 55 km/h may accompany heavy showers and thunderstorms, potentially displacing loose outdoor items and agitating seas. The heavy downpours could also cause street and flash flooding, localized ponding, and may trigger landslides or landslips in vulnerable areas.
The Met Service advises the public to remain vigilant, particularly in flood-prone and landslide-prone regions, and to take necessary precautions. While the most impactful weather is expected during the peak periods, showery spells are likely before and after the heaviest rainfall.
Residents are urged to monitor local forecasts and updates for any changes in the weather situation.
