Two bee hives have been removed from Palmiste Park while another was earmarked for relocation to a private beekeeper’s facility.

This is according to the Agriculture Ministry which says the Park was found to have seven hives in total, with three being deemed a risk to park users.

The Ministry’s statement follows an incident on Easter Monday in which several persons had to be medically treated after being stung by a swarm of bees.

It notes that its approach to dealing with the hives was in collaboration with beekeepers and sought to avoid killing the bees, which play crucial roles in the ecosystem.
