Minister: no taxpayers $$ to fix Cabo Star

Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan has reiterated that it will not cost taxpayers any money to fix the MV Cabo Star.

The vessel has been out of service since August 24th following a fire in its engine room.

This week the Port Authority announced that a replacement will be sent by Bridgemans Services, which owns the Cabo Star.

In the Parliament today, Mr Sinanan reminded that the cost for that vessel, the MV Emprendedora, will be covered by Bridgemans as per the charter agreement.

Following questions from the Opposition, he also reiterated a point made yesterday by the Port Authority Chairman, that the cost to fix the Cabo Star will fall to Bridgemans as well.

Instead, Mr Sinanan said the main cost to the people was the inconvenience of having the vessel out of service.
