The pageant franchise holder for Miss Grand International has responded to allegations made by Mileidy Materano who stepped down as T&T’s representative.

At a media conference, attorney for Materano claimed that she was told by Stolen Productions Limited that she would have to pay her way to Vietnam for next month’s pageant.

According to Guardian Media, SPL’s Head of Marketing and Public Relations Kerry Goberdhan said the accusations were inaccurate.

Goberdhan said the only thing the company was seeking sponsorship for was the plane ticket, while all other accommodation for the delegate were already paid for.

Venezuela-born Materano faced public scrutiny with some members of the public saying the country should be represented by a T&T national.

Since her announcement, Miss Grand International has posted Miss St Joseph Rebekah Hislop as T&T’s representative.
