Guyana President Dr Irfaan Ali has received the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture award for Leadership in Food Security and Sustainable Development.

According to the Office of the President, the award was received during a ceremony in San Jose, Costa Rica last evening.

It says, the Head of State, who is leading CARICOM’s drive to reduce food imports by 25% by 2025 and Guyana’s thrust to become a global leader in food production, is the first to receive such an award from the institute.

Dr Ali used the opportunity to invite the institute to the Agricultural Investment Forum scheduled for later this month in Guyana.
