Four men were arrested and excavation equipment seized as police acted on reports of illegal quarrying in Sangre Grande.

The TTPS says it obtained information about illegal mining, digging and processing activities in an area of Five Acres in Vega De Oropouche which is part of a forest reserve.

Early on December 2nd, 2023, investigators went to the site and observed people operating excavators and trucks.

Four persons were arrested, while two excavators, one suction pump, two lengths of hose and a quantity of documents were seized.
