PAHO can and may include the latest death of a newborn in its investigation.

According to reports, the infant passed away yesterday at the Neonatal ICU at the Port of Spain General Hospital, having been born prematurely on February 28th 2024.

The PAHO team arrived on Sunday to investigate recent deaths at the PoSGH’s NICU, including a cluster of cases in April.

Speaking in the Senate today, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said the incident may be included, depending on certain factors.

Mr Deyalsingh also accused the Opposition of disparaging PAHO’s report event before it has been submitted.
