Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert in place from Thursday

A Yellow Level Adverse Weather Alert will be in place from 5am tomorrow to 5pm on Friday.

The TTMS says showers and rainfall associated with an active Tropical Wave are expected to begin affecting Tobago from near midnight into early morning on Thursday October 5th, 2023.

These will then affect Trinidad from the early morning period and throughout the day.

There is a medium to high chance of accompanying thunderstorm activity and gusty winds in excess of 55km/h, especially in areas near heavier showers or well developed thunderstorms.

The TTMS warns that such winds can lead to broken tree branches, the displacement of loose/unsecured items, and agitated seas.

Isolated flash floods, street flooding and localized ponding can cause temporary traffic disruptions, while landslips are possible in areas so prone.

This Alert comes even as a Hot Spell Alert remains in effect for the month of October.
