The Health Ministry is advising of a voluntary recall of TheraBreath Kids Strawberry Splash.
The product is an anti-cavity mouthwash, and the recall is for one specific lot of 16oz product sold exclusively on Amazon between May 31st and September 2nd, 2023.
It was issued by the manufacturer, Church & Dwight Company Inc, as a result of a microbial contamination due to the presence of yeast identified as Candida Parapsilosis.
The company warns that use of the affected product in immunocompromised individuals could potentially result in a severe or life-threatening fungal infection.
In non- immunocompromised individuals who recently underwent oral surgery or dental procedures, use of the defective product may result in infectious complications.
The Ministry says while the recalled products are not registered for sale in Trinidad and Tobago, out of an abundance of caution, persons who may be in possession of products with the listed lot numbers and expiration dates, should discontinue use immediately.
They are also advised to return the product to the pharmacy unit of the nearest Public Health Facility.
