The Elections and Boundaries Commission says it has received official requests for recounts in 14 of the 141 electoral districts contested in yesterday’s Local Government Elections.
This afternoon it issued an updated statement, correcting a previous release which announced 13 recounts.
In its latest release, it says 12 requests were made by the UNC, while two were made by the PNM.
The EBC says all the recounts will begin at 3pm today, Tuesday 15th August 2023, at the Office for the Returning Officer for the electoral district where the recount was requested.
It adds that the date, time and venue was established in the Notices of Election, which were required to be published in the press, the Gazette and are posted at the Offices of the Returning Officersin accordance with Election Rule 4 of the Representation of the People Act, Chapter 2:01
The following is a list of the electoral districts and political party of the candidate requesting the recount:

- Arima West/O’Meara (UNC)
- Auzonville/Tunapuna (UNC)
- Bagatelle/Blue Basin (UNC)
- Blanchisseuse/Santa Rosa (UNC)
- Cocoyea/Tarouba (UNC)
- Five Rivers (UNC)
- Lengua/Indian Walk (UNC)
- Marabella West (PNM)
- Marabella South/Vistabella (PNM)
- Mayaro North (UNC)
- Sangre Grande Northeast (UNC)
- San Juan East (UNC)
- Maracas/Santa Margarita (UNC)
