The Ministry of Health is concerned about the sale of expired drugs at Pharmacies in T&T.

As such, it is continuing to conduct inspections at pharmacies.

And it has done 272 checks between 2019 and 2022 to ensure unregistered, expired and or illegal drugs are not sold to the general public.

During these inspections, any drugs found in violation of Food and Drugs Act can be seized, and inspectors can advise or issue warnings.

With respect to expired drugs, that remains an issue and the Ministry is reminding pharmacists that changes in chemical composition can occur in expired drugs.

This, it says, may pose a serious threat to the health of the public.
