A 56-year-old driver Couva man has been granted $50,000 bail as he appeared before a Couva Magistrate charged with charged with Cruelty to a Child.

Magistrate Alexander Prince also ordered that the accused not have Possession, Care or Control of the child without an order of the Court pending the determination of the matter.

According to a police report, on June 22nd a 9-year-old boy informed his mother that he was home alone.

A report was made and responding officers went to the home where the child told them that he had been left alone since about 4am when his father went to work.

The matter was adjourned to August 18th 2023.
