ASJA is welcoming government’s recent move to formally recognize the State of Palestine.

In a press release, the association said it is a significant step towards justice and peace, and reflects a commitment to upholding the rights of oppressed people.

Government’s decision was taken last Friday, with the Foreign Affairs Ministry saying this will strengthen the growing international consensus on the issue of Palestinian statehood.

It added that T&T has been a longstanding advocate of the two-State solution as the only credible path to peace and security for Palestinians, the Israelis and, by extension, the wider region.
