A 58-year-old Chaguanas man has appeared in court charged with kidnapping, sexual and other offences against a Venezuelan minor.
The teenage victim told police that on August 5th she hired a vehicle to take her from Pancham Street in Felicity to Chaguanas.
She claims the vehicle turned on Connector Road and then onto a side street, where she was dragged out, stripped, had her hands tied, and was photographed with her cellphone.
The man then allegedly sexually assaulted and stabbed the victim twice, before leaving with her cellphone in his possession.
The TTPS says Denniston Spence was charged with two counts of Sexual Penetration of a Child, Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, Indecent Assault, Malicious Wounding, Larceny and Possession of an Offensive Weapon.
When he appeared before the Chaguanas Second Magistrates’ Court on August 14th, he was not called upon to plead for seven of the offences, but did plead guilty to the charge of larceny.
He was granted $400,000 bail, with the matter adjourned to September 11th and transferred to the Chaguanas First Magistrates’ Court.
As a condition of bail, he is to report to the Marabella Police Station two days a week between 6am and 6pm, and cannot have any contact with the victim or her immediate family, whether in person, on social media or via a third party.
