WASA’s CEO, Kelvin Romain, has met with residents in Beetham Gardens to discuss issues related to sewage overflows in the area.
The meeting was held on Wednesday, with Mr Romain also touring the area and listening to firsthand accounts of the challenges faced by affected residents.
Emergency repairs currently underway at the Beetham Wastewater Treatment Plant have led to instances of overflows in parts of lower Port of Spain, including Beetham Gardens.
Mr. Romain assured that WASA would maintain a daily presence in the area to ensure ongoing pumping activity, in order to reduce the overflows, with sanitization activated where necessary.
He also indicated that the replacement of compromised sewerage lines, as well as a robust leak reduction exercise, will be implemented in the short-term to bring immediate relief.
