WASA update on water issues in South Trinidad

WASA says a reduction in production at Desalcott’s Desalination Plant may be affecting residents at elevated points in South Trinidad.

There have been protests in recent days, with some residents saying they have not received a pipe-borne supply for 3 to 6 weeks.

Today, the Authority held a media briefing to update the public on the water supply situation in parts of South Trinidad.

Mr Romain also pointed to the impact of recent weather conditions, with the Hollis Reservoir dipping below its Long Term Average.

However, he insisted that the lengthy disruptions were “unsatisfactory”.

Mr Romain also gave an update on water issues in Mayaro, saying problems at the Navet water Treatment Plant have been addressed, with that area’s supply expected to be back soon.
