The Vessigny Beach Facility has been temporarily closed to facilitate cleanup of an oil spill.

Heritage Petroleum said it was alerted to the incident yesterday, with a preliminary assessment identifying the source as a leaking 6-inch pipeline in Vessigny Village.

The affected section has since been isolated, with repair work to prevent further impact.

The incident prompted the evacuation of students from Vessigny Secondary School yesterday.
