The United States Embassy has issued a security alert following this week’s quadruple murder along the highway in St Augustine.

Wednesday’s incident led to the deaths of Damien Criss of St Paul Street, Port of Spain; 31-year-old Ricardo Levi Criss of East Dry River, Port of Spain and 30-year-old Jerry Hollingsworth of Tillbury Place, Laventille.

51-year-old Lana Sahadeo, an innocent bystander, was fatally shot as she looked out her window.

In an update on its website, the Embassy says, “Due to recent increased gang activity in St. Augustine, U.S. Citizens are advised to exercise extreme caution in the St. Augustine areas of Trincity Mall, Trincity, Grand Bazaar, and Valsayn areas into the new year.”

It added that there is potential for increased crime.
