A decision is yet to be made regarding the collapsing bridge at Perseverance/Factory Road.

The bridge has been closed since August 1st, after massive cracks began appearing at the base and on the roadway.

Last week, Chaguanas Mayor Faaiq Mohammed said the Works Ministry would provide an update by the end of the week.

Today, he told 103.1FM News that contractors were on site over the weekend and are exploring the possibility of repairing the existing infrastructure.

However, he emphasized that no definitive conclusions have been reached at this time regarding whether these repairs are feasible.

He also underscored the urgency of the matter, saying the reopening of schools in September is likely to exacerbate traffic congestion in the area, creating significant challenges for students, parents, and commuters alike.

He is now appealing to the Ministry to expedite its efforts and take the necessary action without delay.
