UK’s MI6 gets first female spy chief

For the first time in 116 years, a woman will lead the the UK’s foreign intelligence service, commonly known as MI6.

BBC News reports that Blaise Metreweli is currently Director General “Q”, head of the crucial technology and innovation division that aims to keep the identities of secret agents secret, and come up with new ways to evade adversaries.

She joined the Secret Intelligence Service in 1999 and will become the 18th chief of the organisation,  taking over from Sir Richard Moore later this year.
