A 50-year-old truck driver has been shot dead in his home.

The body of Joseph Apping was found around 8:30am yesterday, by a proprietor whose business was located at Apping’s home on Jerningham Junction Road, Cunupia.

Apping was lying in a pool of blood, clad only in shorts, with spent shells scattered around his body.

The victim was last seen alive around 6:30am on Tuesday.

Police believe he may have been shot shortly after midnight on Wednesday, as loud explosions were heard by neighbours around 12:30am.
