Top Cop comments on “not guilty” verdict for six officers

The Police Commissioner has issued a comment on the “not guilty” verdict for six police officers in a Moruga triple-murder case.

The officers were accused of killing Abigail Johnson, Alana Duncan and Kerron Eccles on July 22nd, 2011 at Rochard Douglas Road.

Last Friday, a jury returned a “not guilty” verdict with a judge telling the six officers that they were free.

In response, Commissioner Erla Christopher said the officers were subjected to the due process of law.

She noted that the TTPS works to mitigate against such incidents through the Use of Force Policy and added that body-worn cameras will also be effective in providing evidence.

Commissioner Christopher added that, despite the outcome of the court matter, lives were lost and extended condolences to victims’ families.
