Officials are carrying out the second and third deployment of an oil collection mechanism at the Scarborough Port in response to last month’s spill.

TEMA says this is the NOFI technology which utilizes the NOFI INAK Paravane System and natural ocean currents to collect oil on water.

It adds that this system will help ensure a streamlined waste management program by maximizing the recovered product and minimizing recovery of sea water.

The operations at the Scarborough Port are being coordinated by the vessels NEC Spirit, NEC Pioneer, Altoka 7, Leadership, and the Atlantic Star.
