While a number of Tobago beaches remain closed, the Tobago Hotel and Tourism Association says tourists can still visit for out-of-water activities.
Beaches on the western end of the island remain closed following Friday’s incident in which a British man was bitten by a shark.
These include (but are not limited to) Buccoo Beach, Pigeon Point, Grafton Beach, Store Bay and Turtle Beach.
The THA said these would be reopened on a phased basis, however there has been no notice of any such decision just yet.
The THTA says while several beaches are closed to bathing, they remain open for patronage of beach bars, restaurants, shops, and land-based activities.
It adds that it is liaising with the relevant authorities and voiced support the efforts made by the Tobago Emergency Management Agency to ensure the safety of beachgoers.
The Association adds that its thoughts and prayers are with the victim, Peter Smith, and his family while he recovers from this terrible incident.
Mr Smith is said to be in a stable condition and remains warded at the Scarborough General Hospital.
