THA officials discuss the future of public housing with Ministers

Housing Ministry officials have met with members of the Tobago House of Assembly to discuss the future of public housing on the island.

The meeting, held at the Ministry’s office, focused on proposed housing developments, the challenges currently affecting implementation and the need to diversify housing solutions.

Other key issues raised were the higher cost of construction in Tobago compared to Trinidad, the island’s complex topography, and reduced State funding.

These are believed to have limited the number of homes that can be made available to prospective homeowners.

Minister David Lee also indicated a willingness to conduct site visits in Tobago to support implementation efforts.
