Temple in the Sea vandalized

The famous Temple in the Sea was vandalised on Divali Day.

103.1FM News spoke with Temple President, Randolph Rampersad, who says a stone was used to break a glass door.

According to him, this is the latest in a string of attacks.

Mr Rampersad says there have been a number of break-ins, with electronics, kitchen materials, and cleaning items stolen.

He also claims that nothing is being done by police, despite information on a suspect being passed to them.

He says meetings with other officials have also failed to help improve the security situation or the general wellbeing of the site.

Mr Rampersad says efforts are currently underway to ensure better internet connectivity at the site, which will allow the installation of a better CCTV system.

And while he says they are not asking for anything, they remain open to meaningful dialogue with authorities to improve the situation at the Temple, which is considered a national landmark and heritage site.
