Bangladesh beat Netherlands by 25 runs in their T20 World Cup clash at Kingstown, a result that rules Sri Lanka out of contention to qualify for the Super Eight.
Bangladesh’s 159/5 in 20 overs was propelled by Shakib Al Hasan’s 64 from 46 – Paul van Meekeren and Aryan Dutt took two wickets each and there was one for Tim Pringle.
Then, Netherlands, who were at one point 104/3 after 14 overs, to 134/8 in 2o overs.
The batting collapse was trigged by a double-wicket strike in the 15th over by Rishad Hossain who ended with 3/33 in four overs.
Taskin Ahmed grabbed two wickets and Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzim Hasan Sakib took one wicket each.
The win does not guarantee a Super Eight spot for Bangladesh, nor does it knock Netherlands out, but it has ended Sri Lanka’s hopes for advancing to the next round.
