St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen says her constituency is experiencing a wave of business closures, with some resorting to migration due to the crime situation.

She says several areas have become hotbeds for crime, with an alarming increase in extortion, robberies, shootings and home invasions.

Ms Ameen also believes the situation is being made worse by jurisdictional confusion between the Tunapuna and St. Joseph Police Stations – she says when victims seek help, they are often redirected between stations, resulting in critical delays.

She is urging authorities to take swift action to address this and enhance police resources and responsiveness in the affected areas.
