Social Development Ministry working on pension applications backlog

The Social Development Ministry is working to address the current backlog in processing thousands of Senior Citizens’ Pension applications.

As of today, 1,438 immigration queries and 2,292 NIB queries are pending further information for processing.

The Ministry says the timely handling of some applications have been affected by specific challenges related to receiving information from the National Insurance Board and the Immigration Division.

Minister Vandana Mohit will hold discussions with both the Homeland Security and Finance Ministries before a plan is implemented to ensure the matter is addressed as soon as possible.
