Mayaro MP Rushton Paray has filed his nomination papers with the UNC as he seeks to continue representing Mayaro.

In a brief statement, Mr Paray says his dedication is unwavering, adding that he aims to continue serving the community’s needs and aspirations, standing proudly with the United National Congress.

The MP’s filing comes despite attracting backlash from others within the UNC for his insistence that a date be set for the party’s internal election.

When he initially spoke out, Mr Paray said he had been warned that doing so would be “political suicide”.

Despite the criticism, he has continued to insist on his loyalty to the UNC.

Today is the deadline for the UNC’s General Election nominations.
