Phase one of the rebuilding of Manzanilla/Mayaro Road has been completed, with the roadway elevated and culverts rehabilitated.
The road, which was destroyed by floods in November 2022, has been raised 18 inches above where the existing road sat.
At a tour of the road yesterday, Chief Technical Officer at the Works Ministry Mark Cooper, said the idea is that water would now run through the culvert and not over the road to cause another collapse.
Works Minister Rohan Sinanan said the Ministry will now look to complete phase two of road works, all the way to Mayaro.
