Priests, Teachers and Parents are among those sexually assaulting children in their care in T&T over the past two years.

That’s according to a senior police official, who gave statistics related to this crime at today’s Police Media Breifing.

According to a Newsday report, ASP Christopher Arjoon said for 2023, 504 parents and family members were accused of sexual assault, while there were reports against 15 teachers.

Also, this year, 106 people have been arrested and charged with varying forms of child abuse.

In 2022, two priests were arrested and charged for sexually assaulting children while one was arrested on Wednesday.

ASP Arjoon also noted that in the past two weeks, two police officers were also charged with sexual assault.
