Prime Minister Stuart Young will meet with US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, next week.
A statement from the OPM says Mr Young is expected to travel to Jamaica on Wednesday 26th March 2025.
There, he is expected to hold talks with Mr Rubio, focusing on U.S. foreign policy and the effect on Trinidad and Tobago and the wider region.
The OPM statement says “Prime Minister Young believes the bilateral discussions provide a strategic opportunity to highlight the importance of the relationship between Trinidad and Tobago, CARICOM and the United States, and to focus on exploring areas for the deepening of cooperation.”
It adds that Mr Young’s meeting with the Secretary of State is in keeping with his undertaking to continue to engage in dialogue at the highest level of the U.S. administration for the benefit of citizens.
Other CARICOM leaders are also expected to travel to Jamaica for bilateral discussions with the U.S.
Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne will accompany Mr Young to Jamaica.
