PM takes aim at THA Chief Secretary following allegations

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley says he denies “every syllable of allegation” from THA Chief Secretary Farley Augustine, as he warned of repercussions coming out of the situation.

Yesterday, Mr Augustine said he met with a whistleblower who alleged the involvement of the Prime Minister and Police Commissioner in a plot to discredit Mr Augustine and his executive.

At a media conference this afternoon, Dr Rowley accused Mr Augustine of witness tampering and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

According to the PM, the whistleblower in question is a witness in the ongoing police investigation into a THA audio recording.

He added that by presenting video with the person detailing the allegations, the Chief Secretary also abused the Assembly’s privilege.

Dr Rowley also referred to the matter as a “national emergency” and said he has instructed the Attorney General to obtain serious legal advice on the way forward.
