While activity at the Piparo mud volcano is decreasing, persons are still being urged to stay away for the time being.

This afternoon 103.1FM News spoke with Geoscientist and Exploration Manager Xavier Moonan, who gave an update on the activity being observed.

Mr Moonan warns however that the area is still not safe for persons.

There have also been concerns from some members of the public that a major eruption could soon occur.

With regard to this, Mr Moonan says signs currently show that pressure is being released and decreased, which is a good thing.
