Persons urged to report violence against children

Persons are being urged to report incidents of violence against children.

It comes from Ayanna Webster-Roy, Minister with responsibility for Gender and Child Affairs.

In a statement, she says she is horrified by recent acts of violence and cruelty against children, including the unfortunate and heart-breaking death of a child.

She says there must be an all of society approach and is advising individuals and families in distress to seek support before the situation gets out of hand.

As for the general public, she is urging that concerns be brought to the attention of the relevant authorities such as:

  • THE NATIONAL FAMILY SERVICES DIVISION – 623-2608 ext. 6701-6711
  • TTPS – 999
  • CHILDREN’S AUTHORITY HOTLINE – 996 or 800-2014
  • CHILDLINE – 131 or 800-4321.

For support regarding matters of domestic violence, persons can call the NATIONAL DOMESTIC VIOLENCE HOTLINE 800-SAVE (7283) or TTPS (999).
