MP: Gov’t needs to intervene to help clean St Augustine streets after floods

The streets of St Augustine, in the aftermath of flooding earlier in the week, now pose a health risk, according to the area’s MP.

On Monday, heavy rainfall led to inundated roadways, including in St Augustine and Curepe which both fall within the St Augustine constituency.

MP Khadijah Ameen says the streets remain covered in mud and dust, and possible contaminants.

MP Ameen believes the regional corporation is in a position where it needs government intervention to address the matter.

MP Ameen says the corporation should have more water truck resources at its disposal and suggests that this is something to be considered in next year’s budget.
