Couva North MP Ravi Ratiram has condemned yesterday’s murder at the Chaguanas Market.

Around 2pm, vendor Mark Quashie was shot and killed by a gunman.

Mr Ratiram says this “senseless act of violence strikes at the heart of the entire community.

He also reflected on the time of the incident saying, “Imagine at 2pm when families are out shopping, parent holding the hands of their little loved ones, to have to witness this type of brutal and senseless activity. When is it that we, as a nation, have reached to this point where we can no longer conduct our daily activities and not be scared of being the next victim or being hit by a stray bullet?”

The MP has since called for swift justice and for measures to enhance the safety and security of all vendors and patrons at the market.
