A call is being made for meaningful investment in T&T’s artists and cultural practitioners.
Moruga/Tableland MP Michelle Benjamin says pannists, musicians, filmmakers, and cultural workers need access to funding, training, and development opportunities in order to thrive.
She is also calling for a broader and more sustainable approach to the tourism sector, saying while Carnival is a vital cultural and economic driver, T&T’s tourism potential extends far beyond.
In particular, she is calling on Government to prioritize tourism products that showcase the country’s diversity and richness.
She pointed to eco-tourism, culinary tourism, sport tourism, agriculture tourism, and cultural tourism as areas that deserve meaningful investment.
