Upgrades have taken place at the Chaguanas Market.
According to Mayor Faaiq Mohammed, these include improvements to the ceiling and lighting and the installation of air curtains and air conditioning at the fish and meat section.
There has also been the full refurbishment of the toilets with new tiles, fixtures and fittings.
Mayor Mohammed adds that, with the majority of major works completed, plans will be undertaken in the next financial year to reopen the abattoir.
Operations resume today at the Chaguanas Market which was closed for the past few days as remedial works were conducted.
