Man saved after threatening to jump from tall fuel tank

A man was saved by authorities as he threatened to jump from the top of a jet fuel tank at the Paria’s facility in Pointe a Pierre this morning.

Around 9:10am, the company was notified about the civilian’s whereabouts, after he gained unauthorized access to the facility via the perimeter fence in the area.

He affixed himself to a rope at the top of tank #95 and was threatening to jump. It is unclear at this time what drove the man to take such action.

The ambulance service was contacted, along with the man’s relatives who were on site.

Several teams, including police and fire officers, were successfully able to bring him down from the tank at around 10.55am, and he is currently in their custody.

We’ll have more information subsequently. Stay tuned to 103.1FM.
