A 23-year-old Curepe man was granted $95,000 bail after appearing in court charged with several counts of forgery.
On November 1st 2024, the accused was pulled over by Licensing Officers along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in Curepe for driving a vehicle with a non-prescribed tint.
The man claimed to have authorisation for the vehicle to be tinted, and allegedly produced two documents, purportedly from the Licensing Division.
The documents were initially accepted as genuine.
However the man and the vehicle were escorted to the Licensing Office in Caroni, where checks confirmed that the documents were fraudulent.
Kavir Maharaj appeared before a Master of the High Court yesterday charged with two counts of Uttering a Forged Document and two counts of Possession of Forged Documents.
A Sufficiency Hearing date was set for July 22nd, 2025.
