Port of Spain South MP Keith Scotland S.C. will be named Minister in the Ministry of National Security.
This announcement came this afternoon from Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley during the post-cabinet news briefing.
He says Mr Scotland will work with National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds, and focus specifically the police.
According to the PM, one issue that needs to be dealt with, is leave.
Dr Rowley believes there is also an issue with proper succession planning in the Police Service and criticized the process to appoint a Police Commissioner, describing it as “a huge Parliamentary rigmarole”.
Meanwhile, when asked why it took this long to appoint an additional Minister in the National Security Ministry, Dr Rowley had this response.
