An official at the High Commission of India says a message claiming that prosthetic limbs will be made for and distributed to persons in need is fake.

The message being circulated on WhatsApp claims the exercise to assist amputees is being conducted in conjunction with the Indian High Commission and the Government of T&T.

It also solicits information from persons, promising that the prosthetics will be delivered to the Divali Nagar.

103.1FM News spoke with an official at the High Commission, who dismissed the authenticity of the message.

He says while community and humanitarian projects are sometimes undertaken at the request of a country’s Government, there has been no such request here in T&T and no plans for any such exercise.

The NCIC has also denied that any such event was carded for the Divali Nagar site this month or in the near future.
